Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) is committed to facilitating the integration of immigrants, refugees and their families into Canadian society.

ISC is looking for Board members who are driven by the belief that newcomers, with their rich and diverse backgrounds, are incredible people who enrich Canada. The Board of Directors works with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure the effective governance of the organization and meets monthly.  Occasionally, the Board Member will be representing ISC by attending various functions or events in the general public. 

Hong Tram is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month

Hong came to volunteer with ISC in 1986, a time when we were still Calgary Immigrant Aid Society, because “I have been given so much in my Canadian life and I need to give back. I feel great when I have the opportunity to help”. She has fulfilled various roles over the years and contributed hundreds of volunteer hours.

 

Following a comprehensive search, the Board of Directors at Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) is pleased to announce that Hyder Hassan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective February 25, 2019. 

Helena Nohra is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month

Helena started volunteering at Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) in the summer of 2018 and by the end of the year, she had already completed 250 volunteer hours. She is dedicated and punctual, and her professionalism and attention to detail make her a valuable contributor to ISC’s office.

Hameed Zaman is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month

Hameed joined ISC’s Volunteer Program in 2015 and quickly became an instrumental member of our Homework Help Club in the Beddington area.  By the end of his first year, Hameed had already volunteered 66 hours.

Week after week, Hameed volunteered his time with the Beddington Homework Help Club. When the ‘Shed’ - the location where the Club is hosted - needed renovations, Hameed generously donated additional time to help paint the space.

Gautham Menon is Immigrant Services Calgary’s volunteer of the month.

After more than 29 years of dedicated service with Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC), Krystyna Biel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has announced her plan to retire in early 2019. Krystyna began her career at Immigrant Services Calgary as an ESL/Career Counselor and soon advanced to Director of the Immigrant Language and Vocational Assessment – Referral Centre (ILVARC) and Interim Chief Executive Officer before being appointed Chief Executive Officer in October of 2013.

Sara Naghedi Ahmadi is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month.

Sara has been a volunteer with Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) since 2011 and is an energetic and involved individual. Sara has volunteered in several roles at ISC where she participates in a variety of activities. By the end of Sara’s first year at ISC, she had already completed 95 volunteer hours.

Leila Khademi is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month.

Leila was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. After receiving her B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, she moved to Calgary to be with her husband. In Canada, Leila continued her studies at the University of Calgary and received her M.Sc. Since then, Leila has been working and raising her family.

The Immigrants of Distinction Awards (IDA) honours the exceptional contributions and achievements of Calgary’s immigrants and refugees. Nominations for the 2019 Annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards are officially open and will remain open until 11:59 pm on November 30, 2018. Nominations can be made here
