Marjan Eggermont came to Canada from Netherlands in 1986.  She is an educator, printmaker, artist, engineer, and mentor. She has the unique ability of combining art with her creativity in the area of engineering to pioneer an innovative form of visual art. She is the only artist and tenured faculty member in a Canadian engineering school, the Schulich School of Engineering.

Ms. Eggermont founded the award-winning biomimicry journal ZQ to showcase the nexus of science and design in the field of biologically-inspired design. She has been named one of Calgary’s 20 most influential artists in the last 20 years by Calgary Artwalk Society and her art has been featured in 21 solo and 100 group art exhibitions.  As a result of her passion for youth development, she has inspired over 10,000 students with unique ways to incorporate creativity in the technical engineering design process.
